Elderly suffer the most in lockdown

77-old Bdgr (Retd) Sudhir Bhanot recently underwent a knee transplant operation and was advised physiotherapy for two months. However, following the lockdown, neither can he call a physiotherapist home nor can he visit the hospital.

So, he had to stop the physiotherapy sessions abruptly. He was also advised to go for swimming and other regular activities. Barely able to cover the distance between his bed and drawing room, Bhanot is trying to keep himself active so he could, eventually, be able to walk in the future.

There are several senior citizens like Bhanot who live alone and the extended lockdown has added to their woes. Neither are they able to go out of their homes nor can their children visit them. Moreover, scarcity of medical services has created more problems for such elderly people.
