Stop Trying to Manage Your Time
Stop Trying to Manage Your Time
With the rising demands of our workplaces and the endless things that have to get done, we may not always be able to manage our time. Time is a finite resource and it cant be flexed. But energy is not. There are ways to give yourself the spark you need when youre feeling down. Put your purpose on a post-it. Keep it at your desk to act as a constant visual reminder of why you do what you do. This might be your overall career purpose (why you have chosen the profession that you are in) or a micro purpose (what is motivating you to do a great job on a project or task). Create a wall of encouragement. Put up messages of encouragement, awards, positive feedback, or even memes that make you laugh at your desk, or store them in a digital folder. Look at them when you need to feel re-energized or are feeling drained out. Remove irritants. Are there tasks you do regularly that eat away at your energy level? Consider whether they can be automated. Eliminating these can help free up the time and resources you need to deal with the bigger things in your life. Create a to-dont list. Think about the things you are currently doing that are sucking your energy up. Focus on the ones you can control. There might be certain people that you decide not to see, certain habits that you want to break, or projects that are no longer serving your growth at work.
